Invite parents to the Parent app
Parents use the Parent app to follow their children’s day, read updates and message the care team. A parent gets access only after accepting an invitation, so nobody receives app notifications or emails before they have signed up.
Who is invited
Section titled “Who is invited”- At approval: approving an enrollment application sends an invitation to every parent on the application who has an email address and no Parent app access yet.
- By staff: you can send an invitation to any parent of a child you may edit contacts for.
- Emergency contacts and pickup contacts are not invited unless they are also a parent.
An invitation is valid for 14 days, and its link works once. Sending a new invitation replaces the previous one, so the older link stops working.
Check a parent’s access
Section titled “Check a parent’s access”Open Children & Families → Parents & Contacts and select the parent. The Parent App section shows:
- Parent App Access: Active after the parent accepted, Invited while an invitation is waiting, or Inactive.
- Invitation: Not invited, Invited, Expired, Accepted or Cancelled, with the date it was sent and when it expires. Not delivered means the email could not be delivered; check the email address and resend.
The Parent App Access column and filter in the contact list show the same status.
Send or resend an invitation
Section titled “Send or resend an invitation”- Open the parent’s contact record.
- In the Parent App section, choose Send invitation, or Resend if an invitation is already waiting.
- Confirm.
The parent receives an email with a link to set up their access. If they are new to AmalynCare, they create a password. If they already use AmalynCare, they confirm their existing password. They can then sign in to the Parent app.
Sending needs an email address on the contact and a parent relationship to at least one child. If either is missing, the action explains what to fix.
Cancel an invitation
Section titled “Cancel an invitation”Choose Cancel invitation while an invitation is waiting. The link stops working, and you can send a new invitation later.
Remove Parent app access
Section titled “Remove Parent app access”Choose Remove Parent app access for a parent whose access is Active. The parent can no longer sign in to your organization’s Parent app. Their relationship to the child, emergency contact setting and pickup settings stay as they are, and you can invite them again later.
When a person is no longer a parent of any of your children, their waiting invitation is cancelled and their Parent app access ends automatically.
