Locations

Locations describe where care happens and how it is organized. Your organization can include home child care sites, centres, or both. Each site’s records connect the place, its care offerings and the groups children attend.

A site is a particular home or centre. A program describes a care offering at that site, and a group brings together the children attending that program. A classroom identifies a named room at a site that can be assigned to a group.

For example, Harbourview Early Learning Centre is the site, Harbourview Early Years is the program, and Harbourview Discoverers is the group meeting in the Sunflower Room. An enrollment connects a child to a site and group for a period of care.

For a home agency, each home has its own site, Home Operator and care arrangements. A home does not need a classroom simply to follow the same setup as a centre.

Understand sites, programs, groups and classrooms explains these relationships in more detail.

Use Organization Settings → Site Setup to maintain the site’s setup, programs, groups, classrooms and calendars. Working days, holiday calendars and closures help describe when the site operates.

Use Site Operations → Sites to open a location’s Site Operations page, the starting point for the people and daily work at a location. From there you can follow the relevant records and activities, subject to your access.

People on Premises records dated relationships such as residents and regular visitors. Staff roles and a child’s authorized pickup contacts have their own records; the premises relationship does not replace them.
