Attendance

Attendance brings together the care a child is scheduled to receive and the attendance your team records for a particular day. Use the daily roster to record arrivals, departures and leave, then the weekly report to review several days together.

An enrollment’s attendance schedule sets the weekdays a child attends during a dated period. The site’s operating calendar identifies working days and closures. Together with the selected group and date, these records establish the planned roster.

An attendance record describes what was recorded for that day: arrival, departure, leave and any notes. A schedule says when care is planned; a check-in records an arrival.

The same approach applies to home child care and centre groups. Start with the site and group that the child actually attends.

  • Expected means the child is expected to attend on that day’s roster.
  • Attended identifies recorded attendance. Check the visit details to see whether a departure has also been recorded. A day can hold several visits, for example before-school care that ends with Left for school and after-school care that ends with a pickup.
  • Sick Leave, Vacation and Other Leave describe absences and require a reason.
  • Pickup Guardian is the authorized contact selected when recording a child’s departure. Left for school records a departure without a guardian.

For example, Maya may be scheduled for Friday but have Sick Leave recorded after her family calls. Theo can remain Expected until his arrival is recorded. Those statuses describe different outcomes for the same planned day.

Attendance is the daily working view. Reports → Attendance shows a group’s week, with planned or historical entries and recorded pickup details. A listed pickup contact and the person recorded as collecting a child are different pieces of information.

Attendance status alone does not explain a charge. See billable days and closures for the billing rules that apply alongside the care schedule.
